There are some times of the year that are more special than others. I know that we all would agree that if we were perfect it would not be so, but it should not surprise us that we are not perfect. Two that rise above all of the others are Christmas and Easter. They are special because of what they represent. They are the bookends of Jesus’ earthly life, and through what He accomplished our lives have been changed and they give us a message of reconciliation to share with others.
We serve a risen Saviour who was born in space time history, lived a perfect life, died, and rose again so that all who trust in Him will be saved. This matters—not only because it is true—it matters because it changes how we think, feel and live.
As A.W. Tozer has said, “what you think about God is the most important thing about you”, and Christmas and Easter give us a great excuse to fix our eyes on Him, and see who He has revealed Himself to us. There are seven great I Am statements of Jesus in the book of John, and over these two precious seasons we will be looking at who Jesus is, and seek to know Him more intimately and relate to Him more fully. Our longing as a church is to know Jesus and make Him known, so please prayerfully join us in this pursuit as we seek to become the family He wants us to be!
