A Call To Prayer

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

September is almost here!

This is exciting for us as a church as we look forward to another year of serving our King and being used by Him to impact eternity (okay, also excited that High School football is starting up again, and Ben and Graeme are on the same team). There is much going on, and I would encourage each of you to get involved in ministries that are kick starting and find places to serve our LORD, and be a part of what He is doing through this local church. We long to be used by God to point to Him, and rejoice together in the richness of the Gospel, and the reality that God has chosen to use us to beautify His bride (Ephesians 4:11-16).

The most important role you have to play as we begin this new year of ministry is PRAYER! It was a joy to join with our church in prayer Tuesday nights over the summer, and had a friend share it was the highlight of his summer to join this ministry. Please don't stop praying! The Bible is very clear that God wants us to go to Him first (2 Chronicles 16:9), and is eager to move in us and through us to accomplish His work on earth. Covet your prayers for me, and for any ministry God brings to mind. It is the MOST you can do! Please pray for our teachers and students as they back to school and seek to represent Jesus there as salt and light.

This weekend is Labour Day, and for me that means remembering traditions growing up. We always went to Dad's friend John's for a football game. We had amazing chilli, and we brought oranges. Still remember playing football, and at 7 years old, knowing that the CFL would be lucky to have me :) It is also an opportunity to remember that God wants us IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD. How we work, matters, and we are to work onto the LORD in good and bad situations (Colossians 3:23-24). We represent Jesus, and so with joy lay aside our rights and look for opportunity to show how infinitely glorious He is. Use this weekend, if you are in the work force, to commit again to work in such a way that others notice, and ask you why you are so positive, building of others and hard working. Remember if you name the name Christian you represent the Christ! As we work in the world and show the difference Jesus has made in our lives, others will notice and we will be able to invite them into our church family and into relationship with Jesus.

Remember: We want to be known for our LOVE, and unless each of us goes out of our way to look for new people and connect with them we won't be able to reach this goal in the depth that we want. Please, take the time to send a note, make a phone call, reach out with love, and on Sunday's come seeking to find someone who needs the love of Jesus!

Sunday is the first Sunday of the month, and for us as a church the celebration of communion. This is special, central, and worth our taking time for as we seek to remember what Jesus did for us together and allow it to impact all of our lives. Communion is a time of remembrance, repentance, rejoicing and recommitment. Please as you come on Sunday take the time to fix your eyes on Jesus, and allow this celebration of Jesus impact you and your intimacy with Him!

Sunday Is Coming:

Title: The Throne, The Cross and The Field Of Glory: Thats Missions

Text: Revelation 4-5

Reflect on this title, and what you think it might involve as you read this text.

Why is the world impressed by the Lion and startled by the Lamb?

"The field is a harvest field and a battle field", discuss this statement with someone around you and seek to understand what it means personally for you.

In what way does this text prepare us for the Lamb's opening of the seven seals, and all the calamity and judgments that follow?

Excited to have Roy Comrie preaching this Sunday, his life and ministry have impacted so many, and his life story one that shines the grace and love of God through trial and triumph. His experience of the forgiveness of Jesus, and life that displays this in full devotion and forgiveness of others is worth celebrating and emulating. Let us prepare ourselves to hear from God and adjust our lives to His Word. Looking forward to reading his book!

Filled with anticipation of a great year of service of the KING with you, and seeing lives changed...
