Kick Off: Each One Find One

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

What a joy to be in September as we begin another year of ministry.  It is time to close our summer series, and begin so many new things.  We want you to be involved, and this means three things.

 1.  Find a place to belong.  Join a small group, and engage in growing with others in our family.  We would love every person in our congregation to belong to a small group, and in this find people to love and serve.  The larger our church grows, the more important small group involvement becomes!  Talk to Pastor Les and find a place to belong!

2.  Find a person to welcome.  September is a time that many people look for a new church, or even a new opportunity to come to a church for the first time.  If each person who calls CBC home would come praying for newcomers and looking actively for opportunities to engage and welcome new people we will become even better at this.  Please take this challenge, and come to Sunday School, Connection Cafe, and the morning service with your antena up, looking to encourage and love those around you!  If someone looks a little different than you, praise God that they have joined us and please go way out of your way to joyfully welcome them to a place where God's Word is preached!  We will only become who God wants us to be as each part does its work...

3.  Find a ministry to serve in.  The Bible is pretty clear that we will only grow to be who God wants us to be as EACH PART DOES ITS WORK...that means you!  Prayerfully look for a need and find a place to serve Jesus and His bride at CBC.  We need each person engaged in ministry together, in unity we become so much better and stronger!

Another suggestion I keep hearing from other churches is the effective use of social media to advertise.  Use your influence to celebrate ministries we have in our church and things you are involved in.  Share the sermons, the opportunities, share your own testimony about where you are growing and how, and use who you are and where God has placed you to increase our effectiveness as a church!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOD DOING?

We long for our impact to be world wide, and to see and hear what God is doing and how we can join in.  Jack Eggar, the former president of AWANA has begun a new ministry, called Global Children's Network.  This is a ministry that is seeking to equip churches and parents to effectively reach and disciple the 4-14 window.  Studies have shown that the vast majority of people come to know Jesus between the ages of 4 and 14 and this exciting ministry is seeking to effectively engage churches around the world to equip them to help disciple these precious children, and to get them access to quality resources to help them in this pursuit.  There is many new believers, but a lack of educated people and resources, and this ministry is seeking to close this gap!  Pray for Jack, and this exciting ministry, as it gets off the ground!  Already God is reaching into China through this ministry, and many more exciting paths lay ahead as God moves through His people to help churches around the world help children love and follow Him.

Had someone say to me this week, "Sunday is my favourite day of the week"  Context was a hunger for God's Word, and if we meditate on Psalm 138:2, may this be said of all of us!

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  In But Not Of:  Know God

Text:  Romans 1

This is the last sermon in the series we have been working through on being in the world, but not of the world.  This will focus on gaining  Biblical view of God.

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us".  Why is this true, and what does it mean in terms of our pursuit of a Biblical view of God?

How can we get to know the God of the Bible?

Read Romans 1, and note the pathway of people who ignore the knowledge of God.

What does it mean to suppress the truth?

Why do you think people ignore God?

What does it mean to exchange God?  Exchange for what?

How can you make sure you are not on this pathway?  How can you help others who are?

Looking forward to another year of eternal impact....

Serving with you for Him

Pastor Rob
