Thankful

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

God is good...ALL THE TIME.  Was reflecting this week on how many people have been willing to step up and fill gaps in ministry, as we seek to be effective in sharing the love of Jesus with all generations!  It is exciting to be a part of a church family like this one!  God is so GOOD!  Thank you, if you are one of those who has been willing to step into gaps and help the bride of Jesus here.  May our God give you the strength to serve with excellence and see eternity changed because of what He is doing in you and through you!  Thank you especially to AWANA workers (Kelly, Natasha, Janet and Team) and Pastor Thomas, a privilege to see our precious children being served with excellence!

Sunday School for all ages begins this week!  It is exciting to be a church family that values the teaching of God's Word, and I look forward to what God will do through our Sunday School ministry.  Please Join us Sunday mornings from 9:10 - 10:00 ish.  Then come to Connection Cafe, and get to know some more people!

TGC-BC is having a conference in our church, October 31-November 1.  You can register at tgc-bc.com and learn more there.  We think that this conference is a very good way to be educated biblically and would love for all of our people to come.  Because of this we are offering a discount to our people, so if you would like to learn of the impact of the Reformation 500 years ago, and the longing we have for revival now, register, and with a special number from Peter Sylvester we will grow together.

Growth Groups have begun, and are following the book that we want you to be interacting on during the week.  Our hope is that these small groups can become places of growth and intimacy so that we learn together to apply God's Word and build one another up!  Talk to Pastor Les if you would like to join a group that is seeking to apply the sermon together, and we will try to find you a place to grow!

Was reminded again this week of the power of words.  Not only negative, which can be terribly destructive when lies, gossip and slander are going on, but the positive, as someone shared with Pastor Les how friendly our church was, "we couldn't go 10 feet without being greeted by someone else".  Love it.  May I encourage you to stop any negative speaking around you (or out of you) and replace that with love, and God honouring speech.  What we say is an overflow of our hearts, and I praise God that many hearts in our family are being on display on Sunday morning and beyond.  WELL DONE!

God is at work around the world.  The Fortin's in Plessiville, Quebec are rejoicing in the work of God going on through their church family.  As they are serving God with our prayers, they have seen the tragedy of a stillborn baby, grow to the potential of three baptisms.  Please be in prayer for this missionary family of ours, and for what God is doing in Quebec.  This was once one of the most needy places in the world, and God is at work, and we are seeing strong churches grow up in the midst of our Canadian brothers and sisters here.  Keep praying, and through TGC Canada, and our missionaries we long to see Revival in this great province.

Please be in prayer for those impacted by earth quakes and hurricanes over the past few weeks!  This is an opportunity for God's people to be a blessing and show the love of Jesus, so please pray not only for those impacted by the tragic events, but also for those ministering to them in Jesus name!

Sunday Is Coming:

Text:  Genesis 22

Title:  Trusting God:  He Is Able

Abraham is an amazing man of faith, and one of the greatest things that he ever did was obey God with his greatest treasure...read Genesis 22

Why do you think that Abraham was willing to do this?

How do you think Abraham was shaped by his view of God?

Hebrews 11:17-19 declares the reason why Abraham obeyed, early the next morning.  What does it teach us about what we need to believe about God for instant obedience?

When bad things happen, can you trust God?  Why or why not?

Can you think of texts, or stories in the Bible that you can meditate on that will help you to deepen your ability to trust God no matter what is going on around you?

Thankful to be a part of a church like this, and excited about what God is doing!

Pastor Rob

P.S.  Don't forget your books and Bible's Sunday morning!
