Summer Impact

To God's Beloved @ Cloverdale Baptist Church:

It is good to belong to Jesus.  As a staff we are discussing the culture we want to be a part of (growing more and more) at Cloverdale Baptist Church.  This week we highlighted how dependent we are as we looked at Exodus 17.  This is one of my favourite stories in the Old Testament.  Here the battle rages on the ground, a gifted fighter winning, but only if Moses has his hands raised.  Reflect on that for a moment.  We are in a battle for God's glory, and the only way we can find hope for victory is realizing that God is the one who can be depended on, and must be depended on for victory.

As such, I would like us to set aside a day for fasting and prayer.  Wednesday, June 13, so this is an official invitation, would you join me in fasting from food and praying for our church.  A fast is us calling out to God, this much oh God we long for you to work, it is not a manipulation tool, but rather a longing tool.  We long for God to work in our lives.  You can pick up a prayer guide at the welcome centre, the focus I would love prayer for is:  Personal Revival:  that we would be a first love people and in that find selflessness, humility and love for one another; Corporate Revival:  That God would light in us a fire of passion and focus to exalt Him alone; Mission Accomplishment this summer:  Game On; missionaries you know, church services filled with joy, love and noticing those who will be checking us out.  OTHER:  There are many other things that could come to mind here, and we will leave this to you as you pray in the Holy Spirit.  We are seeking to PRAISE, CONFESS, and PLEAD.  Also, in your prayers throughout the day focus on seeking to constantly give thanksgiving to God, starting with the Gospel, but expanding to every good and perfect gift.  We will be doing this together, alone.  Meaning you are welcome to join together to pray, but the focus will be to set aside time individually and to see as many of us as possible doing this.  PICK UP GUIDE AT BACK OF THE CHURCH.  More details as it gets closer.  WE WILL KICK THIS OFF AT CHURCH AT 7, FOR A CORPORATE TIME OF PRAYER WITH THE REGULAR PRAYER MEETING (DONE BY 8).

GAME ON IS COMING:  We are excited to see our church once again praying and pursuing a healthy ministry to children this summer.  I am excited as we together reach into the live of children and love them in the name of Jesus.  We are still in need of volunteers who are willing to help us in leading a group of children throughout the week.  We will equip you to do this, so we need people who love Jesus, love our church, and are willing to be a part of God's plan in presenting the Gospel to children.  If greatness comes from weak people pointing to Jesus, we are looking for some people who know their strength is in Jesus and want to be GREAT (Matthew 11:11) with us in our desire to be a safe, fun, God exalting place for children.  If you are interested please see Robyn or one of our interns and we will find a place for you to pursue greatness with us!  WE NEED YOU to make this work, so please prayerfully consider joining us in this ministry!

Missions Spotlight:

Please be in prayer for Ricardo and Ingrid and their ministry in Spain.  If you know them, send a note that lets them know you are praying for them, and the ministry God has given them there to reach into the lives of people and love them in Jesus name through Bible studies, choirs, and helping with practical needs.

HUGE thank you to so many people who are serving Jesus with us.  It is a delight to see so many engaged and involved in ministry!  Thank you!

When Jesus summed up the Old Testament, He did so with two commands.  Love Him, Love One Another.  When in doubt, these two can become huge guiding principles for us.  So often it is easy to get caught up in our own little worlds, filled with hurts and pains that cause us to take our eyes off of God, and find bitterness, or despair.  If you are struggling today, SIMPLIFY.  LOVE GOD with all that you are and all that you have.  Find someone else to LOVE and joyfully expect nothing in return.  As we do these things with focus and joy we can build the rest of an obedient abundant life with much more ability.  SIMPLIFY

Sunday Is Coming:

Sermon:  Judges 10

Title:  An Empty Victory

As you read this heartbreaking chapter, why do you think that Jepthah misses the mark so badly?

What can we learn from this?

How does this story fit with the rest of the book of Judges?

What are some things we can do to protect ourselves from seeing God through cultural eyes?

How can we learn to hate the things God hates as we serve Him?

Why do you think that God rejects worldly worship so strongly as you reflect on this story?

Excited about a great service, and study of God's Word with you!
