Maranatha

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Jesus is coming again!  Was a joy to focus on this biblical reality with you Sunday and choose together to be those who are AWAKE, TREASURING the right things, GOOD STEWARDS, and PERSEVERING.  Cloverdale Baptist Church is a place that longs for Jesus return, thank you for your help in this joy filled waiting for our LORD and Saviour.

May we be those who are dressed, lamps burning, servants awaiting our Master, and ready any time like the thief in the night.  I pray that Jesus would return in 2019, but perhaps even more important, that we would be a church not only eager for His return, but READY!  Maranatha, even so LORD JESUS come!

Read last week that revival is always marked in its beginnings by Prayer and God Centred Worship.  We long to be a place where we join together in prayer (and alone), as well as having our corporate worship services be a time where God's people's voices and hearts are engaged in exalting Him together.  My longing is that God would bring a fresh renewal in our lives through His Holy Spirit that includes personal and corporate holiness, a hunger for the preaching of God's Word, and a delight in being ministers of reconciliation.  For this, we need God to move, but could it be that He is already at work in bringing about a new passion to corporately praise Him, and a new desire to seek Him actively in dependance?  I love being a part of this family, and long that we would grow ever more in our depth of relationship with Jesus and breadth of impact for His glory here an around the world!

The elders are seeking to serve you in prayer on Sunday Mornings by being available with their wives to pray with people at the front after the service.  If there is something you would like to discuss with your elders, or to be prayed for, please feel invited to come forward after service and have them engage with you through prayer!

Reminder:  Men's Breakfast, Saturday at 8:30.  We want our men's breakfast to be a place of growth, so encourage you to come and bring your friends, and enjoy a great hearty breakfast, and a passion to define and pursue greatness as MEN in a world that seems to be moving further and further away from a Biblical understanding of manhood.

Reminder:  Deeply Rooted Women's Conference:  We have the amazing privilege of bringing in two world class women speakers to our church on May 3-4.  You can sign up as of February 3, and we encourage you to get registered, and invite your friends to a time of celebration of God's grace and greatness and the impact He can have on your lives.  NO MEN ALLOWED!

Reminder:  Please continue to pray for our missionaries.  This week we are focusing on Dean Eden in Ukraine and his work with children and parents there in sharing the Gospel.  We always had Dean over for the Super Bowl, so will miss him, was glad he was gone last year when his team won, but miss him this year when Robyn's team is going to win.  Please pray for him and what God is doing in him and through him this week.

Sunday Is Coming:

This is our last week of our Christmas series, and then we will be having a guest speaker, Stephen Bray (TGC Canada), before going back to our series on Romans.

Title: No Reserve, No Retreats, No Regrets:  A Fully Devoted Life
Text:  Matthew 25:14-30

  • What does it mean that we are stewards, no owners?
  • How does this change how we view and use our, time, treasures and talents?
  • Why is understanding Christianity as a relationship that drives and defines us, key to our understanding of what it means to be a good steward?
  • How does Deuteronomy 8:17-18 serve as a warning for us as well as the people of Israel?
  • Why do you think the sins of self-sufficiency and self-love are so prevalent in North America?
  • How can you choose to be a godly steward in 2019, and use your time, treasures and talents for His glory as a steward for your Master?

Thankful to be a part of God's people here,

Pastor Rob
