Choosers

To God's Beloved @ Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Beggars can't be choosers...right????  Was visiting with some people in our congregation today and they mentioned that they used to teach their children that they had choosers, and had to make choices with their choosers.  That is great, and helpful for children who are faced with so many choices every day...but what about us.  Each day we are faced with a lot of choices, and how we decide will make us people who glorify God, or miss the mark.  We are beggars, coming to God as those poor in spirit, longing for Him to give us life, and He does, and calls us beggars to be choosers.  Beggars can be choosers, so as you live your life today, do so choosing to glorify God in big and small things.

A few weeks ago OM gave away a number of books, and reminded us that books can change our lives if we let them.  As summer approaches, and the opportunity to read grows I want to take the chance to share a few of the books that changed my life.  Would love for you to email back and share ones that have changed your life.  A book that deepened my trust in God and challenged me with His greatness in view of all of life is Jerry Bridges book, Trusting God.  Our view of God is the most important thing about us, and Bridges helps show God as Sovereign, Loving and Wise, and therefore we can trust Him!  It is an easy read, and yet will challenge your heart and mind, and I hope change how you TRUST GOD.  If you have not read this book, take the time this summer to read it, and share how it challenged you as you read it with your Bible open!

AGAPE ENGLISH (ESL) is coming to Cloverdale Baptist Church.  Please prayerfully consider getting involved.  To do this with excellence we will need a great group of eager servants!  Please check our website and bulletin and choose to give your time to helping those who want to learn English a chance to know God.

BIKATHON:  Please sign up, or sponsor someone.  We have an opportunity to spend time together as a church, and help with the goal of entering the new building debt free.  Take the time to sign up, or sponsor someone (Lori and I will happily be the conduit of your money to the building fund), and join us in reaching our goals of love and fund raising.

I have discovered a new hobby, working with wood.  You start with a chunk of wood, and then with the masters (the guys helping me to produce nice things) help you end up with a treasure.  I am so glad that God takes chunks of wood like us and turns us into treasure.  It is a joy to be His child.

Sunday is coming.  We really believe that this gathering has value, so challenge you to use your chooser, and start preparing today, have a great sleep Saturday night and come with eager expectation to hear God's Word.

Text:  Acts 2:1-13

Title:  Happy Birthday

How do the questions, WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY and HOW help us in understanding God's Word?

Why do you think Pentecost is important for us to celebrate as God's people?

What were the people of God (Israel) celebrating at Pentecost?

As you review the text, what happened?

How does this impact us as a church now?

Why do you think this happened?

As you prepare your hearts for Sunday, may you know God more intimately and as beggars who have found the Saviour, use your choosers to glorify His name!
