HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Thanksgiving is one of the most enduring and important themes of Scripture!  Romans 1 tells us that honouring God as God, and giving thanks to God is key to pleasing Him!  This week is American Thanksgiving, and along with inventing chocolate chip cookies and the internet, they have chosen to celebrate thanksgiving on a different day than the Canadian world.  I am thankful for this because it gives us an opportunity to join them again in expressing gratitude.  Ingratitude is the "ultimate insult to the creator", and gratitude a natural overflow of authentic faith.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel, so as you visit and interact with our American brothers and sisters, wish them a happy thanksgiving, watch a little football, and as they share what they are thankful for, use it as an opportunity to praise God for so great a salvation!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am thankful for my mom and dad.  They are in town for some meetings and it is always a joy to see them and spend time with them.  Their obvious love for God and their grand children are a delight, and the wisdom and love they offer something that I am truly grateful for.  Family is such a blessing, and I praise God for my extended family.

I am thankful for our staff, elders and deacons.  What a joy to serve on a team that is united and wanting God's best God's way!  It is good to be a part of this church family and see God at work in so many ways, drawing people to Him, and through that to loving one another.

I am thankful for Lori and the four boys we are blessed to have together.  It is a privilege to watch them grow into being young men who are discovering God's will for them in their futures!  There is so much that they can do and accomplish and we are proud of each of them as they choose God's ways in the unique personalities that He has blessed them with.  Being a husband and dad  is an immense privilege!

I am thankful that I get to study God's Word and help people to follow Him, and that this is something that comes with a wage.  There could be no greater joy than seeing people come to know Jesus, and learn to walk in obedience to Him!

Most of all, I am thankful for Jesus love for me, and that knowing my sin, and the depth of what I deserve He died in my place, and now has made me His WORK OF ART...WOW!

What does it mean to "train ourselves for godliness?"

Where do you think that you need more, "training?"

How do you train yourself for godliness?

Why is God's Word central to your training?

How can you get in better spiritual shape?

Have a great week, excited to see you on Sunday!
