Celebration Fast Approaching!

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

David Livingstone was born on March 19, 1813.  He was a pioneering missionary to Africa, and gave up so much for the sake of the Gospel.  He stated, "People talk of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa...It is emphatically no sacrifice.  Say rather it is a privilege.  Anxiety, sickness, suffering, or danger-- all these are nothing, when compared with the glory which shall be revealed in and for us.  I NEVER MADE A SACRIFICE".  On the one hand that is not true, he was constantly making sacrifices, on the other when compared with what Jesus did for Him, and called Him to, so true (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).  May we experience the Gospel so richly that we serve with all we are and all we have, and at the end rejoice in the privilege of knowing He uses people like us for His glory.  WE NEVER MADE A SACRIFICE!

God never promised that following Him would be easy, but He does promise that we will, as we continue to serve and not give up, reap eternal rewards.  As you experience the Gospel, may it drive you to joy, and passion as you serve sacrificially at Cloverdale Baptist Church, and may we say with Livingstone as we rejoice in this privilege, I NEVER MADE A SACRIFICE".  What a joy to serve our KING.

This is especially rich in terms of our focus at on Jesus at this time of year.  May we experience His love so richly that the overflow of our hearts is love and grace!  The more clearly we rejoice in the reality of our reconciled relationship with God, the more we will delight in our opportunities to love one another and serve Him.  May we pray for ourselves and one another, Ephesians 3:14-21, and may this change us and change our church family more and more in our conformity to Christ (Ephesians 5:1-2) and unity in having His mind.

Sunday Is Coming:

This series on the, "last words of Jesus", has been incredibly impactful on my own heart.  I truly believe we see on display the heart of Jesus, and this helps us grow in intimacy in our relationship with Him, and also helps us learn to conform to Him.

Title:  Famous Last Words:  Jesus Pain

Text:  Matthew 27:32-56

What does this text teach us about Jesus pain physically?

Why does the Bible not focus more on this physical pain?

Isaiah 53:6 shows us that He did this for us!

How does understanding the cup that Jesus took help us to worship Him more fully?  Revelation 5:8-14

How does this focus help us to live our lives to the praise of Jesus name?

What does it meant that Jesus became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) for us?

It is my joy to serve you, and to have the opportunity to seek to help us reflect the glory of what Jesus has done for us!

If we see it, all bitterness and despair will be swallowed up in love!  All apathy, in passion, and our lives will be lived in the context of this privilege of service!  Thankful for you, and even more for our Saviour Who allows us to serve together for His glory!

His servant, for your joy...

Pastor Rob
