Thankful for our family

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

I am thankful to be a part of the family of God at Cloverdale Baptist Church.  Last week it was amazing for me to watch our people give of their time and resources sacrificially to see our ministries move forward in excellence.  THANK YOU!  What a delight to know of our generosity, and to see it on display here and around the world.  It is good see God's grace impact our time, treasures and talents!  THANK YOU!

Reminder to keep on praying for GAME ON:  The first few days have been very encouraging to see our people engaged in ministry and to see many children hearing about Jesus in a fun way.  One of our interns commented to me about how much he appreciates those serving.  I agree, and perhaps even more, appreciate all of you who are praying.  Thank you for committing to pray for this program, it is through our prayers that God has chosen to bring about great things.

Prayer Meeting: Don't forget that we are gathering for prayer Tuesday nights over the summer and joining our hearts in unity in praising God for who He is, as well as seeking His favour on our fruit production.  I love Spurgeon on prayer, in one place he said, "Neglect of private prayer is the locust that devours the strength of the church".  The opposite is also true, so thank you for pursuing a healthy prayer life, and for the commitment to prayer that we display as a church family.

Reminder:  We have a baptism service on July 22, if you would like to learn more about baptism or already know you want to take this step of obedience please talk with one of our pastors.  It is alway exciting to see people walking in obedience with our LORD in this way!

Egypt: Thank you for your continued prayer.  Our team is on the ground and engaged.  Not always easy, so please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

Sunday is our last sermon in our series on Judges.  I will miss it.  For me this journey has been a great reminder not to compromise, and to rejoice in the amazing grace of God who is at work in the midst of His people.  Take the time to prepare your hearts for God's message to you...

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  The End:  Not Our End

Judges 19-21

This is one of the saddest portions of Scripture in the Bible.

Sodom and Gomorrah repeated in Israel, and then the horror that follows.  Compromise has come to its horrific end, sin is not in control and chaos ensues.

What are some lessons you have learned from the book of Judges?

How does having a big picture of the book help you to understand its parts better?

Why do you think that this books ends with such horror?

Why do you think Israel lost to Benjamin at first, and then suggests the kidnapping of so many women?

As you reflect on this text, how can you make sure that in your own life you fight compromise?  How can we make sure we do this as a church family?

Have a great week, looking forward to Sunday!
