Remembering With Thankful Hearts

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

This coming Sunday is November 11, a day that we take time to remember those who have given their lives for Canada in war and think of those currently serving or who have served.  This year is the 100 year anniversary of the 100 days where Canada's soldiers played a significant role in bringing to a close the first world war.  We remember these men and women who have fought for our freedom even as we pray for those who are on defending our freedom now.  The First World War ended with the armistice agreement on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month at 11 am, 1918.  We are thankful and it is worth taking the time in our busy schedules to remember those who have gone before us.  War is awful, and as a Canadian, I am very thankful for those who fought so bravely for our country.  Take the time to read about how Canada has been a part of wars in the past, and if you have relatives or know any who are serving now or have served, take the time to remember, if they are still alive, to express your own thanksgiving for what they have done.

Much Is Going On:

Join A Growth Group...If you are new with us, we are thankful you have joined us.  It is our desire to see authentic discipleship take place, and we believe that the best place for this is in small groups.  Please talk to Pastor Les if you want to join a group, and Pastor Ray leads one at the church on Thursday nights that all are invited to.  We believe as we grow larger we must also grow smaller to keep connections healthy.

uniSon:  On Saturday night we are having a celebration of worship targeted at those who prefer more of a modern way of doing this.  Sunday mornings we seek to maximize engagement and minimize disengagement through our song selection and sound respecting people of all tastes.  We also offer other experiences like Hymn sing and UniSon that target specific preferences.  If you are someone who prefers the sound louder, and the song selection more current, this is a great place for you to come and rejoice with God's people.  Saturday Night:  7:00 p.m.

Gospel Conversations:  We are seeking to build a culture of evangelism at Cloverdale Baptist Church.  Would love to have each person that considers this church family home be a part of our mission to have EACH ONE REACH ONE.  If you are growing in your relationship with Jesus to the point that this is important to you, but you don't know how to start Gospel Conversations, we want to help you.  This will be an opportunity for you to be equipped for the Christmas season opportunities.  This is in the Sunday School Hour, in the fellowship hall, 9:00 - 10:00.  All Are Welcome.  Pastor Rob's class will continue upstairs.  We would encourage you to use our Sunday School tool to disciple each member of your family.

Missions Update:  Please pray for Ricardo and Ingrid Castro in Spain, as they seek to help a church grow in the midst of economic difficulties and pressures to give up core beliefs.

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  Overwhelmed By Forgiveness
Text:  Romans 4

  • How can we treasure our forgiveness more?
  • Why is it easy to not be filled with joy at the depth of what we have been forgiven of?
  • How do Abraham and David show us that this plan of God is one that is not new with the death and resurrection of Jesus?
  • Why is FAITH so important to this process?
  • How can we share the Gospel in a way that displays the beauty of forgiveness in a way that those who believe can experience it?

Looking forward to another great week...

It is a joy to be your pastor,

Pastor Rob
