Holidays

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Christmas is fast approaching!  That is exciting, and I hope most of us have our major preparations almost done.  There are still some presents to buy and wrap for me, but it is an exciting time to share love with family and friends, and to rejoice at the greatness of God's love to us!  The reason I want to be done early, is so that I can focus on family, and Jesus, and not be overwhelmed with business.  Christmas is a time for worship, and wonder, in the midst of life.  It is also a chance to share the Gospel with those around us, as it seems that they are more willing to listen.  Heard today of a school in the States taking Scripture out of a Charlie Brown play, which I suppose they can do, but in our culture Jesus is still a major part of Christmas, and that is a great opportunity to share the real Jesus with people even as they talk about a baby in a manger they don't know.  Lets take advantage of every opportunity!

Christmas Eve service is an opportunity to invite friends and family to come and enjoy the Christmas story being read, sung and shared.  Encourage you to come and to invite your friends to join us in worshiping Jesus, and hearing the Gospel.  6:00 start time, come a little early and enjoy sharing love with one another!

WEEK OF PRAYER:  January 10-16

We are excited this year to begin in prayer, and declare our dependence on God together as we praise Him.  There will be a room always open at the church for prayer, and all events for this week that are church related will be canceled (except AWANA) so that we can focus on prayer together.  Every night we will gather at the church at 7:00 for a time of prayer.  There will be some interaction with God's Word, but the main focus of this week will actually be prayer.  The elders will be hosting a time of prayer during the day as well, and people are welcome to come and pray.  I am hoping that we have a number of our people join us this week for prayer, I long for us to be a praying church, and one of the ways we can pursue this is through focused time in prayer.  So encourage you to set aside the time this week for focused prayer, as we seek God together.

Sunday Is Coming:

Text:  Philippians 2:3-11

Title:  What Child Is This?  Jesus Is LORD

Why do you think that the Lordship of Jesus can sometimes be a controversy?

Why is our view of Jesus being LORD so important?

We are called to be like Jesus, what does this mean practically in light of who He is revealed to be in the Bible and our text?  2 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 4:19; Luke 6:40

The Lordship of Jesus is about our willingness to obey Him, is there any area of your life that you are not willing to obey His Word today?

Have a great week worshiping the Lord Jesus, and we look forward with you to a great Sunday!

A fellow Servant of the LORD,

Pastor Rob
