To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
Christmas has come and gone, and we are still eating leftovers. Some say that the leftovers taste as good as the first go, not sure that is even possible with the wonderful dinner we had but I am enjoying turkey and ham and...! I love Christmas, and I hope the leftovers that you are enjoying include a continued delight in the love of God.
Encourage you to read through your Bible this year. We long to be a Word saturated church and one of the ways you can do that is to read through your Bible with us. Bible reading plans are available in the welcome centre, or information desk. It is worthwhile to make this one of your goals for the coming year!
Would covet your prayers next week as I am teaching pastoral ministry at Millar Bible College. Please pray for my family here, as well as for the Spirit to fill me so that I can be a part of the lives of these men, who believe God has called them to serve His bride in this way. It is a privilege to seek to impact prospective pastors in this way!
Dick Bailey went to be with the LORD, and we continue to covet your prayers for this family, as well as many others who have lost loved ones this year. The Memorial Service will be at our church on Saturday, January 2, at 2:00.
We have been reviewing HTML, as an overflow of our relationship with Jesus! It is helpful to remember as we seek to live our lives in the conscious presence of God, what a worthy walk as a church will look like. For us it will include, Holiness, as we seek to be holy as God is Holy, it will include a passion for truth, and the preaching of God's Word, as we seek to live our live in obedience to Him, and it will include a desire to see the Gospel move forward here and around the world. It is important that we know the Gospel well, and that we are willing to take advantage of every opportunity to share the Gospel with those in need. Today choose three people that you will pray for over the next year, who need to know Jesus, and as God opens an opportunity share the Gospel with them! Invite them to church, and look for others that have been invited to church, and together in God's strength we can have an amazing eternal impact!
PRAYER WEEK:
Please make sure to set aside time from January 10-16 for prayer. We will kick off the prayer week with a church luncheon on the 10, and then a movie that night. Encourage you all to join us. The rest of the week we encourage you to set aside time for prayer at home, with other brothers and sisters, and with us. We will have an informal gathering at the church at 10:00 am, each day, led by Bob Austin (you will be able to pray on your own, or with others) as well as a meeting every night at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Apart from Jesus we can do nothing, and we encourage you to join us, as we learn a little bit about prayer, and spend the majority of our time in prayer.
Sunday Is Coming:
Title: Getting Ready For The New Year
Text: Psalm 18
Why is it important to evaluate where we are spiritually, and to make new resolutions?
What does it mean to love God?
Why is this so significant?
What does it mean to take refuge in God?
How can you call upon the LORD?
Looking forward to a great Sunday with you as we seek to have an amazing time in God's Word, singing songs of praise, and celebrating communion. Even now prepare your hearts for what God is going to do, and I covet your prayers for me as I seek to be Spirit filled in my preparation and delivery of God's Word.
Looking forward to a great day of worship with you, and excited about what 2016 will bring...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
