Gospel Growth

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Tonight the puck drops on the NHL season.  As Canadians, this is a pretty important deal, and more important for the Vancouver fans is the game tonight (GO CANUCKS GO!).  If you didn't know they are playing the Calgary Flames (Go Canucks Go), and whoever wins this game has 81 games to go before we anticipate the draft (Go Canucks Go).  So, why all this to begin an email to the family of God?  Because although I care enough to watch the game and try to cheer for Vancouver, it is way more important to overflow the incredible good news of Jesus the Messiah and the powerful Gospel.  I love hockey season, I love chatting with you (if you care) about what is going on, BUT WAY MORE, I love Jesus, and long for us to talk with one another, and anyone who will listen about Him!  Go Canucks Go...and even more important, GO CBC GO!

I am THANKFUL...and so should I be, for there is so much to be thankful for!  This Thanksgiving, please take the time to give yourself a quick heart (mouth) check.  We should be those who are so thankful that very little else comes out of our mouths.  What are you thankful for?  May this EVER INCREASE!  We show our depth of maturity through our thankfulness, and often sadly we show our immaturity spiritually through our lack of thanksgiving.  It is a good reminder to fix our eyes on Jesus and praise Him!  With that relationship at the centre, our thanksgiving will be unstoppable!

Updates:  Growth Groups are off and running...if you still haven't found a great place to land...WE HAVE ONE FOR YOU!  On Thursday nights we are offering you the opportunity to grow through a reflection on the book of Romans together with Pastor Ray.  We want this class to be open, vibrant and a place where we love one another and apply God's Word.  It starts at 7:00 pm, and we would love to have you there!

Discipleship for all ages is happening in our Sunday School Classes.  Please join us Sunday's at 9:00, for a time together in God's Word.  Young families, (children of all ages and youth)  take advantage of this, and if you are longing to grow in your faith, Explore, and a study of the top 10 issues facing Canadian Christians will seek to help you live out your faith.

Men's Breakfast:  We are looking at helping men be obedient to Jesus in every area of their lives.  This is a great time of fellowship and serious interaction with God's Word.  For us as men, our walk with God is the most important thing about us, and this will impact everything else!

Sunday Is Coming:

Remember this is a communion Sunday, so prepare your hearts to REMEMBER, REJOICE, REPENT, and RENEW.  Communion is one of the key ways that we grow together to accomplish God's goal for us of  conformity to Jesus, and passion for His mission.

Text:  Romans 1:18-32

Title:  The Roads To Destruction

Read the entire book of Romans this week.  If you can't, make sure to at least read Romans 1.

  • Why is our view of God so important to living our lives for God?
  • How does this chapter display that an incorrect view and response to God and His Gospel lead to chaos?
  • Why is understanding the wrath of God important to our lives today?
  • This passage lists a number of consequences to not knowing who God is or how we should respond to Him and His Gospel...try to work through what they are and how you can avoid them in your personal life.
  • Why are passages like this, that are difficult to hear in our culture, so essential for us to believe and live in light of?

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am thankful I get to serve you!

Go Canucks Go...GO CBC GO
