Advent: Love

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

I praise God for you!  Your faith and your love on on display, and the maturity God has wrought in you showing.  I am so thankful God called me to serve a family like you!

Today is giving Tuesday, and I encourage you to take the time to give to Jesus church at CBC.  I do so knowing that so many of you have already given, and given above and beyond. I do so knowing that we are doing well financially, and that this is a clear evidence of your commitment to Jesus and His family.  I do so knowing that giving to God's family is good for you and her.  So, THANK YOU, and be encouraged to continue to be a blessing as you choose to use what God has entrusted to you for His glory!  Today, THANK YOU, and take the encouragement and challenge to continue to obey your Savior in this!

Sunday we are celebrating a gathered (albeit not as we would desire) communion.  Most importantly please take the time to prepare your hearts to celebrate with us, but also have the elements ready (please use grape juice and unleavened bread if possible).  If you are at all uncomfortable with this, join us in spirit, and pray that you would remember Jesus death and resurrection more and more practically!  This is a special time for us as a congregation, a gift given to the local church that blesses the people of God.  The way you prepare is to fix your eyes on Jesus as well as to recommit your life to be lived for His glory.  It is a good time to review your month, and repent where needed so that our lives will be used for maximum impact for His glory!  It is a time of spiritual renewal that our LORD knew we need!

Reminder:

  • Invite One:  To watch online services with you (in cyber-land)
  • Encourage Three:  God wants to use you today to bless someone else in our family at CBC.  Obey Him, and be an encourager!

If each of us does these two things we will THRIVE, not just survive!

This advent season, take the time to review your hope, and rest secure in the greatness of Jesus and the glory of His Gospel love.  Read Colossians 1 again and let it drive your heart to song!

Sunday Is Coming:

Advent Sunday #2: Love That Is Expressed By God & Experienced By Us

Text: John 3:16

  • Why is love so central to our lives, and the plan of God?
  • Try to read John 3:16 again for the first time.  Sometimes we become so familiar with this precious verse that it loses its pricelessness.  Outline what you think the verse means in context...go back and forward.
  • Read Ephesians 3:14-21 and take the time to pray that you would experience God's love.
  • Read Ephesians 5:1-2 and pray that you would express that kind of love.
  • Choose to love at least 5 people in a 5:1-2 kind of way this week.
  • Why is communion so important to our experience and expression of love?

Some Connecting Opportunities:

The Children’s Ministry department has a CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDAR for our families!  It gives you fun Christmas activities and easy crafts for your family to do each day that will point to the birth of the Saviour.  The calendar starts on Dec 1 and has something for your family to do up to Dec 26.  These are available at each to be picked up at the church office. The packet includes the calendar, instructions for use, and information about what is needed for the month.  Pick yours up today and have fun with your family this special Christmas season!

Share what God is teaching you, and be a blessing to another family member, as WE ALL NEED IT (Hebrews 3:12-14).

Invite 1, encourage 3....

Praising God for the privilege of being partners with you in the Gospel,
