Invitation to Intimacy

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

This week we prepare our hearts for the celebration of the Lord’s table, and this is not only a precious time, it is a time where we renew our vows to God and our loyalty to His Gospel and one another.

It is a time of REMEMBRANCE, where together as a church family we gather to remember what Jesus has done for us!  We remember what we deserve, in death and what He has given us in grace, eternal life.  This calling to mind of what Jesus has done leads us to…

It is a time of REPENTANCE, where we seek to align our lives with God and His Word and His way.  This is relational, and a longing to agree with God in all that we say and do.  It is seeking His face in such a way that we ask Him to search our lives, and show us any unclean ways.  We long to align our lives with Him, and this is a turning of our backs on sin….this repentance leads to….

It is a time of RENEWAL, where we turn our face toward God and renew our passion to keep our eyes on Him, and our hearts devoted to Him.  If we fix our eyes on Him, and love Him fully we will find ourselves so enamoured with Him that we can say, to live is Christ to die is gain.  Here we find relational meaning, and unity in living our lives for Him and His glory.  This is where we find undivided hearts to serve Him, and live for His glory….this renewal of first love devotion leads to….

It is a time of REJOICING, where we are overwhelmed with His love, His grace, His purpose for us, and so we delight in Him, and no matter what is going on in life experience and inexpressible and glorious joy!  Joy is the supernatural response of the one who has experienced the love of Jesus so richly as they participate with brothers and sisters in this delightful, grace filled relational symbol.  This rejoicing is in community, and there is nothing so unifying as a true experience of the richness of the love of Jesus at the table He has provided to His church for His people.

So how can you prepare for this great celebration of life in Christ?  The answer is, reflect on the richness of the Gospel, and begin your journey to intimacy in preparation for this celebration of life.

Read again the Gospel story....and reflect on passages like Ephesians 2:1-10; Romans 5:6-11; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32

It is not only a special time of remembering, it is a time of intimacy with Jesus, and unity with HIs church!  It is life-changing!

We have a prayer gathering Sunday night, and all are welcome.  We continue to long to be a family that has a culture of dependence and prays together.  Please join us in the Sanctuary for a time of worship, word, and prayer.  This is a priority for us as a church if we want to rebuild our community at such a time as this…join us at 6:30-7:30 Sunday night.

Men:  Men’s breakfast, this Saturday at 8:30 for a time of Fellowship and study.  We long to be growing in our culture of dependence and long for you to join us to get to know other men, and join together in this journey towards Christ-likeness together as men.

Please pray for Dean and our team in Ukraine.  May they know God's power, peace, and presence as they seek to glorify Him in a horrific time.  Your prayers matter!  Pray for all believers there as this invasion impacts so much.  May they keep their focus, and in His presence find fullness of joy in the midst of it all

Sunday is Coming

Title: Will You Worship?
Text: Revelation 4

This is our last Sunday on Revelation 4, and I will miss it.  It really was for my heart at such a time as this, to focus my eyes on the THRONE, and the One on the THRONE.

  • Why is worship so important to the follower of Jesus?
  • How do you think that the Bible defines worship?
  • Why is corporate worship so important for God’s people?
  • What are some attributes of God that you are thankful for?
  • How does worship produce humility?

Take a moment and write a letter to God, praising Him for who He is, and thanking Him for what He has done.
If you need a prompter, read Psalm 145-150…and shout His praise!

May our eyes see heaven more clearly, and may it produce in us a worship of the One who is over all, and is seated on the throne.

Privileged to serve you,

Pastor Rob
