Job Description 

JOB TITLE: Custodian
MINISTRY AREA:  Properties
SUPERVISORS: Church Administrator

JOB SUMMARY

Reports to the Church Administrator for daily operations for overall direction.  The Custodian will perform a variety of duties related to the cleaning, upkeep and maintenance of the Church building and fixtures. The Custodian must have a God honoring approach that reflects excellence to ensure the facilities are maintained at optimum levels.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Required to be a Member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church and be in good standing or as otherwise determined by the Elder’s Board.
  2. High School diploma or general education degree.  Educational requirements will be adjusted for candidates with greater work experience.
  3. Must pass a criminal background check to work in a child environment. This is an annual requirement.
  4. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence along with the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  5. Ability to work well with people including other Custodial Staff.
  6. Must be physically fit, able to lift heavy objects (less than 50 pounds)
  7. Be able to work with various cleaning products and chemicals.
  8. Mathematical skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. Must be able to dilute and mix cleaning products and chemicals as directed by instructions.
  9. Must have a high degree of propriety and respect for all Church visitors, adherents, members and other team members.
  10. Must treat all information as highly confidential. E.G. people seeking council, discussions at staff meetings, information that may be exposed during office cleanup etc. People utilizing Church ministries have the right to have any and all information kept in the strictest of confidence. The Church also has a legal obligation to do so.  Any betrayal of this trust will result in immediate dismissal.
  11. WHMIS Certification. (Training can be supplied at later date)
