You are a Steward, not an Owner

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

It is hard not to think like a consumer when we consider the church we attend.  We are trained to be consumers, trained to evaluate what happens around us in terms of the impact it has on how we think, feel and live.

God has a different plan for those who He loves.  He wants to make us a part of His plan to build the church and reach the nations.  He wants to have us engaged in His work for His glory.

This is amazing when we realize that He doesn’t need us.  The Gospel allows us to see ourselves as those who are bought with a price, and as an overflow of that honour God with our bodies…live as STEWARDS and SERVANTS, not owners or consumers.

As you look forward to what is coming in 2024, remember to invest what God has given you in His work and purposes, so that at His return you will hear, well done my good and faithful servant.

We are looking for HOST HOMES:

What do we mean by this?

  1. Guest Speakers: Sometimes we bring in guest speakers from out of the area, who would prefer to save money by not staying in a hotel.  If you would be willing to host people and give them a place to stay, study and survive, could you please contact our admin team at, info@cloverdalebaptist.ca.  We are looking for a home in a few weeks for a few nights.
  2. Mentoring Program: We are planning on intensifying our training passion by seeking to bring in two interns for September – June 2024…and one of the problems we foresee is that housing is difficult with the salary we will provide, and we are thinking that if you have room for someone to stay with you who is training for ministry, we would love to hear from you.  We are unsure of compensation, or even if we need the rooms…but would love to be prepared for who God has for us to be trained, and to serve our family.

Thank you…

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  Shattered Silence: From Selfishness To Service

Text:  Ephesians 4:11-16

  • Why do you think that so often we live as consumers and not stewards?
  • How can we change our view of life so that we see all of life as a service to God?
  • Where do you see in your life a heart for serving Him?
  • Why is it important to realize God doesn’t need us?
  • How can we be aware of God’s choice of us as His work of art to do His work?
  • What are you doing to serve the local church?
  • Why is that so important according to God’s Word?
  • Why do you think so many struggle with this, and see themselves as consumers, not stewards when it comes to the ministries of the local church?
  • Pastor Rob will present a pathway to stewardship:
    • Who we are: Identity
    • Where we are: Sphere of influence
    • What we have: Stewards
  • How can you follow this pathway?
  • How can you believe God’s Word enough to act as a steward in who you are, where you are, and what you have?
  • Where does God want you to:
    • Identify as a steward not an owner?
    • Invest as a servant, not a consumer?
  • How can you do this in the coming months and years?

A fellow STEWARD & SERVANT,

Pastor Rob

Join us in praying for our missionaries.

Julie Gibson — WEC Canada

  • Julie’s back recently seized up on her, and she was unable to even stand. Please pray that the Lord would grant healing and restore her strength.
  • Julie recently heard that WEC has been accepted as an exhibitor at Vancouver Missions Fest this February 15-17. Julie is planning to fly to BC a few days early in order to visit Cloverdale Baptist Church! Please pray for Julie as she arranges for flights and all the logistics of the trip.
  • Pray that the Lord would be working in the hearts of believers— drawing more men and women to serve Him among the nations. Pray that the Vancouver Missions Fest would glorify God and proclaim the truth. Finally, pray that Julie would have opportunities to connect with believers who are seeking where and how they can serve the Lord among the nations.
