God Works In Mysterious Ways...

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

It is exciting to serve Jesus with you here in this family!  On Monday, heard another great story of God's work in and through CBC.  A man was coming to our church but did not know Jesus, and sat in the back to avoid to much attention.  As the pastor finished his sermon, the man in the back swatted at a fly that was keeping him awake, and it happened to be at the very same time that the pastor asked if anyone would like to trust in Jesus that morning.  Excited, the pastor went on a house visit to celebrate the new birth of a person in our church and discovered the story... then led the man to faith in Jesus.  Our God is amazing...and uses flies and pastors and people like us to bring His children to faith!  PRAISE GOD!

Reminder:  We have a congregational meeting on June 14 at 7:00 PM.  We will be affirming Rick Larter as an elder, discussing budget, and voting on deacons who will serve our family in accomplishing God's mission for us.  Encourage you to be in prayer for this meeting and to join us in rejoicing at the goodness of God, and seeing how He will use us as we go into the summer and our next fiscal year.  We all (members) have a part to play in seeking His will, so please join us now in prayer, there in person.  All people who attend CBC are welcome to come, and members to prayerfully communicate what you believe to be God's will.

One of the ways that you can get ready for summer is to put together your reading list.  I have been listening to my heroes share what books that they would read if they were on a Desert Island and two that keep coming up are, Pilgrims Progress, by John Bunyan and Knowing God, by J.I. Packer.  If you have not read either of these two books, make them a part of your beach and reading schedule this summer, and if you have read them, consider reading them again.  If you do read one of these books, talk about them with a friend and pass them on.

I am excited to announce to you that The Gospel Coalition Canada is getting off of the ground.  This is a network of churches that we are a founding part of, that is seeking renewal in God's churches, with a unique voice in Canada.  I believe that this is a group of churches that God can use to bring revival to Canada, and covet your prayers as we move forward.  You can learn more about us, and encourage you to look up our Facebook page (The Gospel Coalition Canada) and be ready for more as we seek to Glorify God and make our presence in Canada known as those who love the Inerrant Word of God, and are seeking to know and obey the God that is found revealed there.  Psalm 85:6, "Will you not revive us again, that your people might rejoice in you".  It is a privilege as a church to be on the ground floor of a movement that values God's name and word (Isaiah 66:2).

Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  Betrayed, Denied, Tried:

Text:  Mark 14:43-72

Why is it so important to see the crucifixion as a part of God's plan?  Acts 4:27-28

God's plan for us is sometimes painful, for Jesus it included being betrayed by His friends, tried by His foes, and denied by His followers.  How does Jesus pain in the plan of God help us to trust God in our pain?

How does reviewing all that Jesus has done for us help us in our desire to worship Him in spirit and truth?

How can we grow in our faith in God's plan?

May our God open the eyes of our hearts as we come to worship, grow and live together to the praise of His glorious grace.

A fellow child of the REDEEMER,

Pastor Rob
