To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
September is a time of new beginnings even as summer ends, and flowers withdraw.
School begins again, as do so many programs in our church family, as we seek to reach people for Jesus and grow in our faith. It is an exciting time, and one where we hope we can help each person that calls Cloverdale Baptist Church home fit in and serve.
Sunday, September 11, we are having a luncheon and Growth Group kick off. Encourage you all to join us for lunch and prayerfully consider being a part of our growth group ministry. This is a ministry that will not only help you to belong, but also to get to know people more intimately, and as you grow with them, to experience and express the love of God. We believe that small group ministry is central to who God wants us to be, and so invite you to find out more, sign up, and join us in this ministry.
Sunday School begins this Sunday, 9:10-10:00 am. We have classes for all ages and our goal is to help you to get to know Jesus and grow deeper in your faith.
Adult classes include:
ESL: Learning English and God's Word: Classroom # 245
New Believers Class: Beginning September 25, 2016...Classroom #214
How To Study God's Word: Classroom #242 Video Series, with facilitation. KIDS CHURCH ROOM
A Journey In Faith & Missions: Studying 1 & 2 Thessalonians and an overview of what the Bible teaches on missions: Classroom #246 YOUTH ROOM
Our goal is that everyone in our family can come and grow and find a place to get to know others more intimately. Join us with open hearts and open Bible!
There is so much more going on, as we start AWANA, YOUTH GROUP, LADIES BIBLE STUDIES, MEN'S MINISTRY, SENIORS AND SO MUCH MORE!
Please read your bulletin and stay up to date on what is going on.
We have been discussing what a good friend looks like. A godly friend is: F: Faithful, R: Right Relationship With God; I: Integral, and now E: ENCOURAGING
A godly friend builds you up in the LORD, and encourages your heart (Proverbs 27:9). A godly friend speaks encouraging words into your life so that you are experiencing their love and God's love because they are around you. When you are this kind of friend people around you feel encouraged and blessed! One of the best illustrations in God's Word of a friend who lived like this is Barnabas and his love and encouragement for Paul.
If you are seeking to be a godly friend, look for ways you can help those around you to feel love and blessed! Seek God's help in looking for the good in others and speaking in a way that shares this love with them, and others. A godly friend is encouraging (Ephesians 4:29). There are people that pull you up, and people that pull you down, seek to be a puller upper and be around others that do this for you!
There are times when in life the weight of what is going on is overwhelming, and an encouraging friend walking with you, always makes the load significantly lighter! Seek to be this. Seek to look for this in the people you hang out with.
Sunday Is Coming:
Title: The Danger Of & Solution To Drifting:
Text: Hebrews 3:7-19
Why do you think this warning is here in Hebrews?
How can we be people who don't drift?
Why do you think that encouraging one another was so important to the people the book of Hebrews is written to?
How can you heed this warning?
How can we understand this passage in light of eternal security?
Prayerfully consider joining a small group this coming year!
Looking forward to a great kick off, and in God's strength, a fantastic year of reaching and teaching people for God's glory!
A fellow servant
