To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
It is exciting to be a part of Cloverdale Baptist Church!
Last week we not only had a wonderful meal, and sign up time (still trying to sort out the great numbers that signed up) for Growth Groups, Awana kicked off, being full even before we started, youth is going strong with more numbers than we have ever started with and the great teaching of Pastor Thomas, and our Women's Retreat is just around the corner. There is MUCH MUCH MORE, so would suggest that you engage and get involved so that you can encourage and be encouraged in your walk with God! The programs of CBC are there to help you connect and grow, and we long to see God's people here more and more conformed to the image of Jesus, so join us in serving or being served and GROWING!
The beginning of school is a good reminder for us to choose the right friends. There is a danger of having the wrong friends, as bad company corrupts good character, and good fellowship removes the deception of sin. God's Word shows that good friends are, F: Faithful; R: Right Relationship With God; I: Integrity; E: Encouraging &
N: Nearby: Proverbs 27:10 explains that not only do we all need friends, we need them near us. This is not to diminish the value of having friends all over the world, it is to say that we need support around us, and that our friends should be available for support.
One of the great values of a Small Group is that we can develop these kind of friends. I have good friends all over the world, but when I am struggling with a difficult decision, or a valley or joy, I praise God for the friends I have that are NEAR! Through their love and support I am a much better follower of Jesus.
Are you a friend who is available? Do you have friends that are Nearby? Choose your friends wisely, for at some point in the near future you will need them to help you, and your choice of friends will impact your life. Show me your friends and I can show you your future.
Sunday Is Coming:
This is our first in the series, THE GLORIOUS GOSPEL: Gospel Oriented Altered Life
We would invite you to use the book we have provided to take notes, and interact with people in your small group, or discuss this with friends. We have an opportunity to grow in our, "walking worthy of the calling we have received", and we do that best in community!
Title: The Glorious Gospel: WHAT IS THE GOSPEL
Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
As you prayerfully review this text, let it deepen your worship, and broaden your passion to share this Gospel with the people God has brought into your life!
This is of FIRST IMPORTANCE...what does that mean in terms of impact in your life?
Why is it so important that we know the content of the Gospel well?
If someone was to ask you how they could be forgiven for their sins, how would you answer?
Try to have a good understanding of the Gospel in your mind as you come to worship service, in other words, if you were asked to summarize the Gospel in 3 minutes, what would you say...?
Have a great week, and please join me in praying that this new series would have a tremendous impact on our church, community and world.
Rejoicing,
Pastor Rob
