Help!

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

HELP!

How do we respond to that cry when we hear it?  I hope as Christians in two ways:  1.  Prayer (Hebrews 4:16); 2.  Pursuit:  Do what we can for the person in need of help.  Often the flesh is tempted to run the other way, or even attack...so let us respond in the Spirit, and offer the help that God desires in prayer and pursuit.

Today, would you hear with me a cry for help.  The longer this separation goes on, the more I feel the desperate need we have as God's people for community.  God's people in our church family are hurting, struggling, surviving, and ready for this to be over, or at the very least, to see significant steps in the right direction.  Sometimes I feel like we are taking two steps forward, and three steps back and isolation is difficult.

Maybe you don't see the family that is in crisis, the person whose health issues deepen, the drowning teenager....maybe you don't hear the widow who is lonely, or the parent who is crying out to God, or the child who is anxious, but God does, and I long for us to hear with His ears and Pray and Pursue.  If each of us responds, we will find fewer and fewer people falling through the cracks, and more and more unity and health as God's family.

HELP!

We know God is in control, and so we seek to walk with Him and trust Him fully.  We know God has placed us where we are at for such a time as this, and so we can not only rest in Him, we can be READY to serve His people as God puts them into our path.  He is a very present help in times of trouble, and sometimes He has chosen His help to be His people.

HELP!

I have found that in the midst of hurting people, courageous grace and humble encouragement are needed and appreciated.  So would you join the family of God here and be the love that someone in your sphere of influence needs to feel.  Would you take seriously the call to see yourself as not only His treasured possession, but also His plan to impact others in love and grace!

Respond to the difficult times we are in by praying for others and pursuing opportunities to love them and encourage them.

Experience His love and offer it to others!  Invite 1, Encourage 3...

A special thank you to those who are working so hard to engage God's family at CBC with us.  Jeff, you and your team are deeply appreciated...THANK YOU!

Sunday Is Coming:

We are back in Romans this Sunday, and working through Romans 12.

An experience of the Gospel always leads to radical commitment.  Radical commitment to God always takes us into a family relationship, a commitment to the local church that includes using our gifts and engaging our hearts.  Your maturity as a Christian is measured by your love for God's people, and that can always be traced to a deep devotion to God and rich experience of His love.

Read all of Romans 12.

Preach the Gospel to yourself and remind yourself of the motive for full devotion to God and the fellowship of His people.  It is only as we truly experience the Gospel that we will be fully devoted to Him and His family.

  • Why do you think that Romans 12:1-2 is followed by an entire chapter on what it means to be healthy in the local church?
  • How can you live out these verses practically this week?

Privileged to Join you in seeking to pray and pursue the encouragement and engagement of God's people at CBC,
