God is at Work Through His Church at CBC

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Has it ever overwhelmed you that not only has God saved you, He has called you to live for Him.  He has actually prepared good works for you to walk in, in His eternal plan for your life and His Kingdom….WOW!

My guess is we will never tire of Ephesians 2:1-10, even in eternity as we see with new eyes what it means to be a TROPHY OF GRACE!

Sometimes the distractions of the world and the hurting people I am privileged to shepherd cause me to lose sight of this amazing reality..GOD IS AT WORK!  Last week, was sharing this with and elder, and he said…share that with everyone…so here goes…

I did a Funeral for a friend last week.  A man who God used me to help to know Jesus and follow Jesus, and also help his wife know Jesus.  Buried his daughter with them a few years ago, and yesterday had the privilege of the service and graveside, and presenting the Gospel to friends, family and the funeral home employees (around 50 people), many of whom commented on the Gospel nature of the service, and two employees of the home, of the hope we have in Jesus.

This is our mission, to help people know Jesus and to share His Gospel, and because of our church family, and your prayers…this was done!  What a JOY!

I am a thrift store shopper for books, and was at the Mission Thrift Store in Langley, quietly looking through their books, and was greeted, with a, “your Pastor Bob”, was close enough, so visited with a nice man, who turned out to be a missionary from Rwanda.  He has planted two churches there, and uses our books (especially the Romans ones) to disciple these churches and reach other people.  He actively looks for them in thrift stores, and buys them as quickly as he can to use them in this ministry there.  Jesus church at CBC, is being used to reach and teach people in Rwanda, and we didn’t even know it!  PRAISE GOD!  Since have given them permission to print, and use, and create outreach opportunities using these books…and I say again, WHAT A JOY!

One of our Growth Groups, in studying Revelation 5, rejoiced in the text, and commented that it was the greatest study they had been a part of, in the deepening of their faith as they walk through a journey with trials.  We are growing people deeper in their faith so that they can rejoice in trials, and cry out with life and lips the worthiness of our God!  Oh that we would see God, and then respond out of that with great joy to any and every trial God allows for our good in our lives!  HE IS WORTHY!

God is growing us deeper and wider!  And we need both missional impact, and depth in relationship with God!

At our Elders retreat, was talking with one of our elders, and was reminded that not only is God working through us for Gospel impact here, He is using us around the world, especially in Kids Ministry.  Through High Power Soccer Camp, we have been used to invite 2 million children into relationship with Jesus.  Through Malachi Kids, a ministry started in the heart of one of our elders, and formed officially in our church building (I have the privilege on serving on the board), we are reaching and growing 1 million children, and their families around the world.  WOW...read that paragraph again and PRAISE GOD.  There is no way any church deserves that kind of Great Commission fruit, and yet God has chosen to use us, our giving, our prayers, our love, to accomplish MASSIVE things for His KINGDOM.  WOW!  WORTHY IS THE LAMB!

How is God using you to grow others?

How is God using you to reach others?

Share our stories, and be an encouragement to His family!  I am so thrilled to hear how God is growing us and using us to accomplish His mission together at CBC!  Sometime we will only hear those stories after we are in eternity as Pastor Ray reminded me of this morning, as we celebrated 26 of us gathering to sharpen our Great Commission skills Sunday night.  God is at work!

I am so thankful for our Elders, and their heart for the church and her future.  We met Saturday for a time of prayer, and pursuit of unity in our partnership in the Gospel.  I am privileged to partner in the Gospel with these men of God!  Please continue to keep us in prayer as we seek God’s will, for His glory moving forward!

Please continue to pray for what is happening in the Ukraine.  Our special offering that is being used for help with refugees is still open, and we hope you will give to this above your tithes and offerings to help the church in Ukraine to shine the love of Jesus to those being oppressed by this war.

Sunday Is Coming:

Revelation 7

Title:  Behold Our God:

As you reflect on this text, and the brokenness of our world, what are some ways that you keep your faith strong when things seem to be difficult.

How does the Sovereignty of God on display in these chapters of Revelation help us to trust in Him in all of our lives, and the things that are going on around us?

One of my favourite commentaries sums up this great passage saying, “How can any Christian meditate on it (this text) without reaffirming his or her commitment to put the Lord first in everything?  Can any earthly achievement begin to compare with this scene?

Interact in your heart with this quote.

Why is it important to hear the book of Revelation for what it says, not what our systematic theology wants it to say?

Why do you think some people make the book of Revelation so complicated?

Remember that this Sunday is Communion Sunday.  Please prepare your hearts and make sure that you spend enough time with God that you remove any issues you might have with a fellow believer and are active in confessing all known sin in your life.  Jesus call fro us at Communion services is for a renewal of first love devotion that impacts all of life.  Join us in this community commitment of love and grace!

It is a joy to be used by God for you, and with you!
