Happy Birthday CBC

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Today, 7 years ago, we moved from one side of the land to the other.  Or put another way, we entered our new building.  It is so exciting to see what God has done over the 90 or so years we have existed as a church, and perhaps for those of us who live now even more to see what He is doing.

Thank you for serving Jesus with us at CBC.  There is little greater we can do for Him than serve His bride and help her to be unified for His glory.  I love that God has called me to serve this family, and praise Him for His work in us and through us.  Thankful for Sunday and 6 baptisms, and all of the stories since then I have heard of people who are living in light of who God is.  Thankful for others now asking about baptism, and longing to obey God with all of their lives all of the time!  Thankful that we serve a LIVING God who is REAL and RELEVANT, and has chosen to make us together a part of His plan as partners in the Gospel!

Happy 7th birthday building, and a good reminder for us, as we love this resource God has given us, that the church is the people of God committed to Him and one another to build one another up, and be sued to reach out in their sphere of influence with the Gospel.

We believe that PRAYER is central to who we are as a church family, and to living in relationship with God both for intimacy with Him and impact for Him.  Over the summer the ELDERS are inviting you to engage with us in prayer on Tuesday nights from 7-8 as a church family.  There will be a short devotional, and then a time of corporate prayer together.  I agree with Samuel Chadwich, when he states, “Satan dreads nothing but prayer. His one concern is to keep the saints from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, he mocks our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.”

True impact and intimacy will only come through prayer, individual and corporate!

Set some goals this summer, and grow in your walk with God!  Make Him central to your life, and you will find yourself joined with CBC in our pursuit of health and impact.  It is good to serve the KING!

Congrats Johnny on your doctorate, and taking the walk of the educated.  We are thankful for you and Darlene and your ministry to us!

Excited to serve the KING with you, and to anticipate great things as we seek to build His KINGDOM in His strength for His GLORY!

Sunday Is Coming:

Old Testament Stories For Hope In Our Stories

Title:  God Is…REAL & RELEVANT:

Text:  1 Samuel 17

This is one of the most famous stories in the entire Bible and one that has so much to teach us about faith and living for God, and with God.

  • How does David show that he knows God?
  • How does this differ from everyone else?
  • Why do you think the MAJORITY often does not take God into consideration?
  • How can you learn to live in light of who God is, in a world (even Christians) that so often ignores Him?
  • How does remembering that these are real people, in real space time history, help you to grow to live in God’s presence more consistently?

It is a JOY to be your servant, because I am HIS,

Pastor Rob
