To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
It is good to be a part of the family of God! There is so much happening that we can take part in together, so please stay informed, engage, and help us to bring glory to God!
We have baptisms this Sunday. They are such a rich celebration of God’s love as displayed in the Gospel, and a full devotion to Him. Make sure you prepare your hearts for this, and use the testimony of others to drive your heart to God! If you haven't obeyed Jesus in this, choose today to call a pastor and follow this pathway of love and obedience.
Communion is coming, on October 2. For the first time in two years we are going to go back to our, “tradition”, and pass it out, and partake together. We continue to want to be sensitive for any with health issues or any other concerns, so we will have packaged communion elements available in the foyer if you would prefer that!
Communion is one of the most important things that we do, and it displays our loyalty to Jesus and love for one another, so encourage you to join us, and in your comfort zone display and renew that loyalty to Jesus, and love for His family!
It is precious to celebrate this together!
We want to be a church family that lives on MISSION POSSIBLE!
How do we do this?
We understand what it means (seeking to bring Him glory), and the way of thinking that makes this possible (word saturation).
If each of us is making it a priority to grow in our walk with God, we will find a unity of thinking that comes from God’s WORD, not the world around us. This is what it will take to thrive as the world shifts further and further away from its moral foundation.
Personal growth will always include preaching the Gospel to ourselves every day (living in relationship with God); pursuing right thinking; Praying; People gathered in church; and seeking the supremacy of the person of Jesus in all things.
To be a GOSPEL people means to experience God’s grace continually so that it controls you (2 Corinthians 5:14), and overflows from your life to help you be a loving person who is gracious and holy in all of life. We need constant reminders of the Gospel, so much so that one of the greatest lessons Jerry Bridges ever taught me, is to preach the Gospel to ourselves every day! To be Gospel oriented people who live in light of Jesus love, and display it to others (Ephesians 5:1-2).
To PREACH THE GOSPEL TO YOURSELF every day means to be someone who never forgets what God has done for you in Jesus! To experience NO CONDEMNATION, and to live a life of representing that Gospel in humility and grace.
The more we experience the Gospel the more we will be the kind of people who display the greatness of God and the more we will live successfully MISSION POSSIBLE!
Sunday Is Coming
Sermon: Mission Possible: Community
Text: Acts 2:42
- How are you applying what we have already learned...we exist to bring glory to God, and choose to be Word saturated, not world saturated?
- Why do we need to be devoted to loving one another?
- What do you think this looks like in your life (or should look like)?
- Why is an experience of God’s love for us essential to us loving one another?
- How can we make sure we have the depth in our walk with God that allows us to put our preferences aside and choose to Romans 12:10 one another?
On Sunday, our implications will include…
- Die to self
- Do what is needed
- Develop a heart for people in our church family
What are some ways your life shows these, and how can you grow in them?
Living out MISSION POSSIBLE by your side, in His strength for His glory,
Pastor Rob
