Prayer Is Engagement in the Battle

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

One of the great privileges of our church is to be a part of ministry to the people of Iran.  As you have probably noticed, there is huge turmoil going on there, and our prayers for these people are needed! Key in those prayers is that many would come to know Jesus as LORD and Saviour, and that those who know Him would be faithful, and sharing.

Please pray for our ministry to this area, our opportunities to have a Gospel impact in this region, and so many that we love that are undergoing incredible turmoil!  Please pray for Tony and team as they seek to be an encouragement and increase our Gospel footprint!

As we have kicked off this year we have said that the most important thing about us is the depth of our relationship with God…  If are not walking in depth with God, we will divide and despair.

We want this to be a year where each of will make it a priority to grow in our walk with God, we will find a unity of thinking that comes from God’s WORD, not the world around us.  This is what it will take to thrive as the world shifts further and further away from its moral foundation.

I love 2 Timothy 3 in this, the warning of where the world will go in chaos, and then the solution…WORD SATURATION…biblical thinking.  We will not solve the world’s problems with worldly solutions, it must come from God’s Word!

We must grow deeper!

Personal growth will always include preaching the Gospel to ourselves every day (living in relationship with God); pursuing right thinking; PrayingPeople gathered in church; and seeking the supremacy of the person of Jesus in all things.

We are on PRAYING, if you review these weekly messages, and PRAYER is one of the most important things that we can do with our lives.

We know this, and yet so often don’t practice it like we should.  I long for this church to be a HOUSE OF PRAYER, where we corporately pray and privately pray, and God uses our prayers to unify our hearts and align our minds and lives, and impact our world.

What is prayer?  It is talking with God.  If reading and listening to God’s Word is speaking, we respond when we pray, we praise Him, we thank Him, we pour out our hearts to Him.  Prayer aligns us with Him, and moves His hand in this world for His glory.

If prayer is not a priority for us, we will lose sight of our relationship with God in the midst of life’s distractions, and we will lose the experience of the power of God for living holy and impactful lives.

So, please choose to pray more than you currently are in the coming year.  Relational living is the heart of Christianity, and prayer is key to deepening our relationship for God, and impacting others with the Gospel and encouragement.

If you want to learn how to pray, one of the best books I have read on it is Carson’s, Spiritual Reformation:  The Prayers Of Paul; so get it, read it, and pray through it.

The only way we will survive the coming storm is to grow deeper, and align together with God and His call on our lives.  Then we will have hope, and then we will have impact.

SO PLEASE…PRAY…PRAY…PRAY…

Pray for me, as we prepare for the coming Sunday, and the overflow of that in terms of living our lives 24/7 for His glory!

Sunday Is Coming

Title:  Mission Possible:  Dependence

Text:  Exodus 17:8-13

We live in a battle, with the world, the flesh and the devil.

  • How does that battle show in your life?
  • What is the key battle for you personally with your flesh?
  • With the devil (Demonic realm)?
  • World?
  • How does your life show you believe that there is a war going on in your prayer life?
  • How should it show in your prayer life?
  • How does the story in Exodus 17 show us our part and God’s?
  • Why is it important to PRAY and ACT?
  • Why do you think God wanted this battle to be marked in the minds of the Israelites forever?  How does this mark your mind?
  • In the difficulties of life, how are you displaying your pursuit of God’s will with passion (fight), and your priority of prayer (fellowship with God)?

Love battling with you, as your servant for His glory and your good,

Please stay informed as we seek to glorify God together as a family!
