July 20: A Great Day in History!

To God’s Beloved at Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Today in history…

  • Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in 1969…about 240, 000 miles from earth…and took one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
  • Surf City, by Jan and Dean was released…1963
  • Bruce Lee died…age 32…1973
  • Sitting Bull surrendered…1881
  • Assassination plot against Hitler failed…1944…Pastor Bonhoeffer later hanged for his involvement in this (April 9, 1945).
  • Jeff Godard was born…1997

And many many other things.  History is a way of seeing how God has worked, and I hope, also gives us a passion to serve God now.  We are living in great times, and we can make a historic difference if we live, in the fullness of the Spirit!

He is Sovereign over His story, and is Sovereign over our lives.  Today, God has a plan for you to walk in if you are His, and when we look back on history, July 20, 2023, we will see with joy, how our lives were used by God to encourage others, to love on His behalf and to reach out with His Gospel.  We matter for the KING!

The 5*5*5 is a great starting place, but in submission to King Jesus and in living in His Kingdom, make sure you are living a life for Him that matters!

History is a reminder of great things that have happened…but I also hope an opportunity to remember that God uses ordinary people in our time to change eternity!

It is good to be a part of HIS STORY with our lives.  Today, as His work of art, walk in His good works which He prepared in advance for you to do, and we will look back when we are in His presence and rejoice!  (Happy Birthday Jeff)...

You matter, and your life lived for the glory of God will make a difference in the lives of others, and for eternity!

Privileged to be a partner with you in the Gospel,

Pastor Rob

As many of you know Marley Burden was promoted to glory last Sunday night (July 16).  She was a blessing to so many in our flock, and a precious grandmother to our boys…and will be missed dearly.  She was a faithful servant of God, loyal to Him and His bride, and lived her life for His glory.  Partnering with her to serve other families (as she played and led from the piano) will be a precious memory of mine!  Please pray for George and family!  The service will be happening sometime in August as they are seeking to plan it with family and other losses (Marley’s sister).

We taped this in the pandemic, and if you know and love her, and are willing to hurt a little as you rejoice, take a moment and play this.
