To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
Summer is a great time for reflection and rejoicing in the goodness of God’s grace. God is REAL, and so often in the business of life we can be fools, who although we are religious, ignore His reality. A fool says in his heart there is now God, a follower sets God before them at all times.
So, as we rest, enjoy the sun and hide from the heat, let us be those who continually seek to live in relationship with our God as our driving and defining starting point. This relationship will overflow and we will produce fruit as we dedicate ourselves to Him and see His Spirit at work in us.
DON’T FORGET your 5*5*5, I love hearing how God is using you to be an encouragement to others. Often we don’t even know how God is using us! I was speaking at a conference and a fellow speaker shared with me that one of his congregants saw that he was speaking with me, and sent him a text, that I had saved his life. I don’t remember our conversation that was so impactful on him, or the situation that he was in that had caused him to feel so low, but I do praise God that He uses us, in our frailty to impact others. God has chosen you this week to be His arm of love, His voice, His way of impacting those around you, so walk by faith, walk in these works He has prepared in advance for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). Keep your 5*5*5 efforts going this summer, and share your stories, and perhaps in heaven we will have others come to us and thank us for our part in their story. If you walk in the power of the Spirit, God will use you to encourage and bless those around you...and together the praise of His glorious grace will be enhanced through you for all eternity!
One of my favourite preachers was called to a huge dream, and when asked by his biographer what caused him to hesitate, he shared that he just didn’t feel he prayed enough. A humble acknowledgement of God’s plan to use those who depend on Him. We want to be a church that prays…that moves forward on our knees, and we need your prayers to accomplish this. Join us in humble passionate pursuit of God personally, and join us in our corporate elder led prayer times on Tuesday nights (7-8). Your presence is not only an encouragement, it is literally what God uses to accomplish His work in us and through us. May we not hear from Him, “you did not have because you did not ask”.
Sunday is coming…
Parable Of The Wheat & Weeds:
Read Matthew 13:24-29
- Why did Jesus tell parables? Matthew 13:13-17
- What is the Kingdom?
- Why is it important we see the Kingdom the way that God wants us to, and not the way the culture seems to push us towards?
- Who is the King?
- Why does Jesus take so much time on describing His subjects in these stories?
- What does this parable mean to you personally?
- How can you make sure that you are the soil that hears and responds and bears fruit?
Privileged to listen to Jesus with you, and to preach as if I am saying the very words of God (1 Peter 4:11),
Pastor Rob
