Ministries Knowing God

Living For God

Our Lord Jesus, in speaking to a group of believers in Luke 10:20, said rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Rejoice!

If you have believed that Jesus paid your sin debt on the cross, repented of your sins, and received Jesus as Lord of your life, then amazingly, you are on the beginning of a brand new life!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

You are now in fact a new creation - like a spiritual newborn baby! This is the meaning of being "born-again" that Jesus spoke of in John chapter 3. As with any newborn baby, you will need to be fed and nurtured.

Read the bible daily

God wants you to be grounded in truth and to grow in faith through the reading of his Word (the bible).

"Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation — if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good."

1 Peter 2:2-3 (ESV)

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word."

Psalm 119:9 (ESV)

Do more than just read the bible - study it! If you are just starting out then I'd recommend that you start in the Gospel of John. You will have questions, write them down and get answers! Find a mature believer that you can study together with. Get connected with one of our growth groups.

Talk to God regularily - Pray

Trust and depend on God to guide you in all aspects of your walk with Him.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

You can talk to God about everything. Really, He wants you to! 1 Thess 5:17 says we are topray without ceasing. God is always with you and is ready to guide you in every situation. Trust him in all things! Pray that God would give you wisdom and guidance in a decision. Pray that God would help you to understand His word as you read it. Pray that God would use you to reach your friends and family for Him. Thank Him for things. Thank Him again for dying on the cross and paying your sin debt! Thank God for his provision for you! Thank Him for your job, your family, your health, all things!

"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

Attend a bible-believing church

You are not alone! Surround yourself with like-minded believers who know what Jesus has done for them. Regularly meeting with mature believers will encourage you and help you to grow.

"not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

Hebrews 10:25 (ESV)
