In Crisis TRUST

To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church

Today, October 19, in 1856, Charles Spurgeon was preaching to an overflowing congregation. In the midst of the sermon someone yelled fire, and chaos erupted all around. By the time the dust had settled there were 7 people that had been trampled to death. It is said that this caused Spurgeon incredible grief, almost causing him to give up the ministry all together, I think it also sealed His passion to trust in the Sovereignty of God no matter what. He said, "I believe every particle of dust that dances in the sunbeam does not move an atom unless God wishes..." In crisis the most comforting thing is a deep trust in the love and Sovereignty of God. This week people I love, who are going through a tragedy reminded me also to hug my family, and let them know I love them. If you are feeling overwhelmed with the pain of life, in your valley, trust God, and know He is Sovereign and good, and make sure whether in tragedy or not, to share your love with people around you! His plan is always good and when we get to glory we will see the puzzle pieces all together and rejoice, so why not rejoice in confident hope now!

It was an encouraging week to have an amazing choir (someone reported best concert that they had ever been to) as well as a great history lesson on the Reformation! It is good to see our church being used for things like these for God's glory!

Title: Gospel Purity & Passion

Text: Galatians 1:1-10

Review the message from a few weeks ago on this text, if you took notes. What makes this text so important for Christians to understand and apply?

Why do you think that some people who start well, don't finish well?

Do you think that every generation needs to defend the Gospel?

How do people add to the Bible? Subtract from it? Why?

Why do you think that Paul uses such HARSH words?

How can we take steps to insure we are God pleasers and not man pleasers?

Have an amazing week, and I look forward to growing and glowing with you!

Delighted and honoured to be responsible for you to God (and a little overwhelmed) with my fellow elders,

Pastor Rob
