A Life for the Glory of God

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

What a joy to gather again in unity.  Another amazing emotional experience for me as we gathered physically on Sunday and exalted our King together and discussed what it means to live as though God exists as His followers and praised His name together.

I have really enjoyed getting to know Johnny and Darlene better, and am anticipating fruitful ministry with them!  We are gathering to affirm God’s will together on Johnny as our new Worship Director on July 25, just after the morning service at a congregational meeting.

How do we seek God’s will together, for we do not ever want to be a democracy as a congregation, rather we are a Christocracy, or stated another way, Jesus is the head of the church and we want His will to supersede all!

  • Whole Hearted Commitment To God: Romans 12:1-2
  • Word Saturation: Romans 12:1-2
  • Walk In God’s Presence In Prayer: Ephesians 6:18
  • Wise Counsel: Proverbs 15:22; 12:15; 19:20 (congregation of committed followers of Jesus)
  • Work Towards Mission Accomplishment: Matthew 28:18-20
  • Watch For Divine Intervention; Providence: Psalm 16:8

As a congregation that knows that God exists, and believe that the Holy Spirit fills and guides Jesus followers, we are confident that if we are a family that chooses God’s way, we will discover together God’s will.

So your part, is to walk through those 6 steps and join us in this exciting process.  I am thrilled to pursue God’s will, and mission with you in the coming year and years.  These are exciting times as we live our lives for His glory.  It will be a half time ministry, and we will staff a worship Associate to cover what specific areas that Johnny can't, due to focus elsewhere.

  • Join us Sunday Morning July 18.
  • Join us Sunday Night, for a night of praise, and listen to Johnny’s testimony (will include Mitch as well). A dessert and coffee will follow.  7-8:30.
  • Join us at prayer meeting where Johnny will lead in a few songs, and we will spend time together praying for God’s will in this area (Tuesday, July 20, 7-8).
  • Ask the elders, or Johnny any questions that you might have that will help you affirm God’s will with us.

Please continue to pray for our KIDS MINISTRY THIS WEEK especially as they are in camp all week.  Huge thank you to all of those serving, and if you are not and know one that is, ask them to show you the Baptist Dance!  A helpful reminder of God's work in us and through us!  Pray especially for Robyn and Hannah as they serve God and us in this special way this week!

Someone asked me the other day why people do not like change.  I actually think people love change, we just are typically self-centred in the change we would like.  We have been forced into change in the past year, and as we re-engage, I long for us to be open to change outside of our comfort zone, but inside of God’s will for us.

I mean by this, would you make your time with God a priority, and live as though He exists because you know Him?  Would you see life as an opportunity to live for Him in an Ephesians 2:10 kind of way?  Would you be willing to share the Gospel once a week with someone?  To use your phone, facebook and/or internet to encourage people around you and point people to Jesus?  To actively live in God’s presence and power so that your life displays the beauty of who He is and what He has done?  Would you choose self-sacrificially someone else’s preference over your own because you want to honor them?  Would you invite two or three people in your sphere of influence to church every week?  Would you embrace these changes even though they are outside of your comfort zone?  If each of us did, we would see immense growth in intimacy with God, and impact for Him.  Massive change God’s way, and it would lead to unity and joy!

My perspective is that sometimes we get so comfortable with convenient Christianity that we want things to change our way, or the way our tastes define.  My hope is that our hearts would long for change Jesus way, and we would pursue that with all of our might and conform to His image so that we display our intimacy with Him in how we live!  In the power of the Spirit with our eyes fixed on Jesus, we have the power to change, and live in a relationship with Him that drives and defines us!

Sunday Is Coming:

It is candidating week, so please join us in prayer for this upcoming seeking of God’s will, and in program so that you can affirm God’s will with us as you get to know Johnny and Darlene.

Please prayerfully prepare your hearts to exalt Him, hear from His Word and encourage one another!

Text:  Malachi 2:1-9

Title:  Set Your Mind, Heart & Feet…OR ELSE

This is another passage of Scripture that is ALL ABOUT GOD’S NAME again!

How do we live as though God is real, because He is!

He has revealed to us who He is, and how we can know and love Him, and treasure His name…now we are to walk in this pattern!

How can we make sure that we define EXCELLENCE and our pursuit of it in line with what this passage teaches about bringing honour to God’s name?

How do we pray for and support our church leaders who are seeking to help us glorify God and obey His Word?

Delighted to serve you at such a time as this, and to seek His will for the good of His church…thankful we are in person again...and ready for another great Sunday with you...

Some REMINDERS:

Treasure in the Tundra:  July 12-16. PRAY PRAY PRAY!  If we believe that Jesus valued children (and He did and does) and if we believe in the 4-14 window and eternity, then this may be the most important week of our year, so PRAY PRAY PRAY!

Kids ministry is seeking to serve you, and help in discipling our children and families even though we are not gathering physically.  Please take advantage of this, and continue to make church a priority that your children can see and taste!

Stay informed and connected!

Please join me in making an extra effort to pursue unity, encourage a family member, and share what God is teaching you with someone else.

Encourage 3, Invite 1, Share With All Who Will Listen

Find someone who disagrees with you on a non-essential, and show them you love them!  It is a good muscle to work on!  Romans 12:10

Get a book, and pray with us through this summer, for as God's people pray, the hand of God is engaged, the power of God experienced, and the people of God changed!

Igniting His Church Through Prayer

What would happen if God’s people truly prayed?

What would the church look like if those who followed Jesus sought God’s face with passion as they lived their lives conscious of His presence for His glory? There is an opportunity in this world to grow in our relationship with Jesus and impact the world for His glory right now in Canada, and at the heart of this opportunity is the prayers of Jesus’ followers. Children of the heavenly Father need to learn how to pray, but we need more than that, we need to actually put feet on that and pray!

If God’s people will humble themselves, seek His face, and pray, they will know Him more intimately and magnify His name more intensely, in His strength, for His glory.

What would happen if God’s people prayed? Apply what you find in this book and we will find out!

Satan dreads nothing but prayer. His one concern is to keep the saints from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, he mocks our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.
