Welcome Dwight / Live on Mission

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

Thank you for your prayers and participation in seeking God’s will with us on the hiring of a new pastor.

Pastor Dwight will be joining our staff officially on July 5.  Please be in prayer for them as they transition from Northview, and begin their service of Jesus here as partners in the Gospel.  We are excited about what the future holds, and ask you would pray and participate now, as we value kids ministry and see God continue to work in this essential area of ministry.

This week I discuss with Pastor Jonathan Griffith bill C4, and how we can best respond as Christians on our Cloverdale Baptist Podcast. It is so important that we stay on God’s side and don’t fall into the ditches of anger, apathy, or anxiety.  We serve an amazing God who has called us to be in the WORD, and keep in step with the SPIRIT so that we can stay holy and loving in a lost world.

One of the key ways that we do this is by pursuing God individually and together, or perhaps, to use more biblical language, we are disciples who make disciples.

In our understanding a disciple is seeking to grow in their relationship with God so that they are driven and defined by that relationship more and more….that we become Galatians 2:20, Philippians 1:21 people who live as if God exists because He does.  People who become like our MASTER (Galatians 4:19).

The pathway to this is HTML, or a pursuit of HOLINESS, TRUTH, MISSION, and LOVE.

Today, we want to talk about the MISSION that God has called us to be on, and typically we narrow that down to serving in the church so we build her, and reaching out in the sphere of influence God has placed us on with His Gospel.

God has a plan for your life, and that plan includes serving the local church (Ephesians 4:11-16), and being His ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:11-21).  If you could see your life as making these two things a priority it would impact your personal growth, and the growth of others.

Where are you serving the local church?  Are you using your gifts to be a blessing to others?

Who are you seeking to share the Gospel with in your sphere of influence?  Do you know the Gospel well enough, that if/when you are asked, you can introduce people to Jesus?

We would be wrong not to at least mention here that as a congregation we are also involved in missions to the rest of the world, and we should see this as an overflow of our service and mission here.  Don’t think of mission as something you give to (although we should be giving to it), rather think of mission as something you engage in…and start in the church and community God has placed you, and grow from there…

There is no such thing as a growing Christian who is not connected to the local church and serving her (exception to the deeply hurting and those who have no healthy local church near them.).  There is no Christian who is not a part of God's Sovereign plan to impact others for His glory. YES THAT IS YOU!

We long to be disciples who make disciples and to see our lives being conformed to the image of Jesus and helping others to know Him.

Please stay informed and engaged as we move forward into the summer.  I am excited to see what God has in store for us, and with us, as we seek to be disciples who make disciples.

Your servant, because I am His,

Pastor Rob
