The Greatest Week in History

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

We are in HOLY WEEK:

The is a celebration of the most important week in the history of the world!

The Gospels focus on this week, and celebrate it in all of its horror and praise.  ¼ of Matthew, ½ of John, 1/3 of Mark, and 1/5 of Luke focus on this special week.  Of the 89 chapters that make up the Gospels, 30 of them focus on the HOLY WEEK.

This makes it a WEEK TO NEVER FORGET!

It is as hard for us, as it was for the people who were with Jesus during this week to fixate on the reality of His work for us, and His rule over us.  Like the disciples we want Jesus to save us now from injustice (if we are in the Religious Left), or the government and the infringement of our rights (if we are in the Religious Right), and this week SHOUTS out to us, He has so much more for us.  In a fragmented society where culture is focusing on injustices in a woke way, or the lack of rights and freedoms in a righteous way, may we find in this week and what it represents FREEDOM, and FULL SURRENDER to our Savior!

We need to truly see how Jesus lived, and died...and seek to be like Him.  This will help us to stay out of the right and left ditches, and to seek first HIS KINGDOM.

Jesus did come to SAVE THEM NOW, and to SAVE US NOW, and this salvation is from our sin, to our Savior!  It is from a worldly dark kingdom, to the KINGDOM OF HIS GLORIOUS SON.  If we experience His love and forgiveness and are found free in Him, we will live for Him no matter what the cost.  We will be humble, passionate, Gospel oriented people who are known for our LOVE and HOLINESS.

We have a long ways to grow, and this WEEK is a great reminder for us of what really matters, and how to live for Him in the midst of our broken world.

Every week people share with me their brokenness and the mess they are living in, in this fallen world.  It is heartbreaking, and although I can’t promise that it will all make sense here, or be perfect here, we can look forward to our KING, and seek first His KINGDOM and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (Matthew 6).

My longing for us as a church is that we would so experience His PRESENCE, POWER, and PASSION, that it would give us the strength to PERSEVERE in the midst of the broken world, not PREOCCUPIED by the right or the left and the dangerous ditches that can suck our joy, but to stay on His pathway and live for His glory!

This week fixate your heart and mind on the events that occurred.  Spend time in the Gospels where this is the focus and let your heart embrace His way, experience His love, and express His Gospel.

Remember...His forgiveness is COMPLETE.  His mercy is MORE...His LOVE is GREATER.  There is freedom in forgiveness, and if the SON has set you free...you shall be free indeed!

The KING has come!

Remember we have a GOOD FRIDAY SERVCE at 10:30.  We will be celebrating communion and seeking to feel the weight and the glory of Jesus death for us!

Resurrection Sunday Is Coming:

Title:  The King Has Climbed

Text:  Luke 24

This is a celebration of the Greatest Day In History.

The Father has raised Jesus from the dead…and HE IS ALIVE!

  • HE IS RISEN…HE IS RISEN INDEED!
  • As you read Luke 24 and prepare your hearts, try to feel what these precious people must have felt…
  • How does the reality of the resurrection of Jesus change how you think?
  • How does the reality of the resurrection of Jesus change how you feel?
  • How does the reality of the resurrection of Jesus change how you live?
  • What are some ways you can keep this reality in mind all of the time, and live life knowing HE IS WITH US ALWAYS (Psalm 16:8; Matthew 28:20)?

Celebrating with you, and longing to have this reality impact my life all the more,

Pastor Rob
