A Living Sacrifice Because of Our Loving Savior

To God’s Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:

It is good to remind ourselves who we are.  In fact, if we remember who we are, it makes it possible to be who we are.  Or stated another way, we can be loving, and we can be holy if we recognize who we are IN CHRIST.  There really is no other hope for holiness and love the way that God requires it.

This is the great joy of the resurrection season.
Our hope is that each of us would experience God’s grace so richly that we would offer our lives to Him as a living sacrifice.

As Romans 12:1-2 is so clear, the more we know and experience the grace of God the more we will offer to Him our lives as a living sacrifice.

This is the importance of Gospel experience, and why it is essential we preach the Gospel to ourselves every day.  The more we grow to know Him, the more we love Him, the more we live our lives for His glory.

Do you know the Gospel so well that it makes sense for you to be a living sacrifice?  That is really where we must start, or quickly we can slip into traditions or contextual living to be comfortable in our lack of faith.  Legalism and license will always fail us.

So how do we know?  This is what I love so much about Romans 12:1-2…we will know if the foundation is the Gospel, the Commitment is total, and the worship is biblical.  That we are so Word saturated that we know what is tradition, or cultural contextual, and treat them as such because our passion is for the being in right relationship with the God who has revealed Himself to us.

This should be humbling and invigorating, and cause us too long to live our lives in community with the people of God.  This week take the time to meditate on Romans 12:1-10 and ask God to open the eyes of your heart that you might see Him, know Him, and follow Him.

May I encourage you to prayerfully read those 10 verses every day this week with the longing to apply them.  This will bring life and joy and commitment to our LORD and His Family.  This will change us individually and corporately.

So my prayer for all of us is that we would so experience His love that it would compel us to a life of faith (2 Corinthians 5:14).

As you live this week, live as a sacrifice, ALL IN, thankful and motivated by His mercy, and living in love by His life in you!

Today, in because of the Gospel, I choose to be a living sacrifice, and in light of this freedom, will seek to be word saturated, not world dominated.

Sunday Is Coming

Title:  Called To Serve:

Text:  Romans 12:1-10

We will be building on commitment Sunday to seek to show how this knowing the will of God is worked out in community.

Take the time to mediate on Romans 12:1-2, without that, the rest of the passage becomes to hard to apply.

  • Rejoice in God’s Gospel…How can you preach the Gospel to yourself every day?
  • Radically commit your life to God…How can you choose each day to be a living sacrifice?

Reality choices that define your life by His Word not the world…spend more time with Jesus than anyone or anything else, having your mind shaped by His Word, not the world.

If you are willing to do these three things… then ask yourself…

  • What is your spiritual gift?
  • How can you prefer others in our family?
  • What does this practically look like?
  • How can you more and more choose to be a servant as you live your life in community at Cloverdale Baptist Church?

It is so good to be in this family, and because of the Gospel, your servant, and His living sacrifice,

Growing with you,

Pastor Rob
