To God's Beloved At Cloverdale Baptist Church:
It is a great day to praise the LORD and seek His face together.
John 15:7 states, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it done for you." I love this verse, a challenge to a deep relationship of abiding, being Word saturated and a promise for when we pray. Today, it is a reminder to me, and our congregation to pray! I am pleading with you as God's people, to enter the very throne room of God and to seek His strength for His people for His glory.
After you have spent time in CONFESSION, PRAISE & THANKSGIVING...
Please Pray For:
Joint Leadership Retreat: We are putting aside Friday and Saturday for a time of pursing health as a church and as a team. Please pray for all of our elders and deacons as we gather, and as we seek to lead in a way that is filled with the Spirit. My longing would be that people would look back at this time, and giving glory to God would say, "this was their finest hour", and for that to occur in a God honouring way, we need His work in our lives and through our lives. Please pray for us, especially Friday night and Saturday.
New Building: That things would be finished in a timely manner, and that we would get permits quickly so we can move from building to building. This is so important to the health of our congregation, so please seek the face of God with me on this issue.
Discipleship: We want to be a growing church, deeper and wider. For this to occur we need to see our depth continue to increase. Please pray for those who are setting up programs, and that are going to be involved in this from a program way. Please also pray that we would be a church that is full of people who are full of God.
Search Committee: That God would use these men and women to bring the right person to CBC to help us exalt our King in song and help people experience service and belonging here in this family. We long for the right decisions to be made, God's will to be found, so please pray! Being multi-ethnic and multi-generational is not easy in our society, please pray that we can succeed in this in God's strength.
That we would be a church an HTML church, as an overflow of our relationship with Jesus. Please pray for this balance, and that each of us would be healthy servants of Jesus and His bride at Cloverdale Baptist Church. HTML = Holy; Truth; Mission; Loving
Short term missionaries: We send many around the world during the summer. Get to know some of these people who are going on our behalf with the Gospel and love, and pray for them!
There is so much more. We have many who are sick, neighbours, workmates, schoolmates, friends and family that need the Gospel. Pray we would be faithful in sharing, and that God would open a door for our success in this for His glory.
Programs: Soccer Camp; Summer Prayer Meeting; etc... Summer is an important opportunity for us to continue to grow, please pray we would be a church that displays the love of God to one another and all who come across our path.
Thank you for your prayers. Hudson Taylor stated, "All God's giants have been weak men (and women) who did great things for God because they reckoned on God being with them" God is with us, we need to seek His face as weak men and women and accomplish great things together.
REMINDERS:
Bikeathon/Walkathon is coming please sign up to participate, or sponsor someone who is. This is a fun way for us to take the next step in community and joining together to raise the last funding we need.
We will be going to one service soon, please pay careful attention to these emails, your bulletin and announcements. We are waiting on last minute details from the new building, but hoping and praying we can celebrate in there soon.
The last Sunday School is this Sunday. Thank you to all of our teachers who have faithfully taught the Word of God to the people of God. This ministry of imparting God's Word is so appreciated! It will be exciting to see where your Sunday School class room will be next year. If you have ideas as to issues you think we should address for our adult classes, please let me know.
New Members Meeting: If you would like to become a part of our family at CBC, please join our membership class on June 7. You can find out more about this class in your bulletin or at the information desk. Even if you just want to know more about us, this is a great opportunity to meet with a couple of our elders, and learn who we believe we are and who God wants us to be.
BOOK: This summer, I will try to share a book that has been meaningful to me, and my Christian growth each week. Disciplines of a Godly Man, by Kent Hughes has not only helped my own heart for God, but also been a great book to use in mentoring. It was the first book I used here at CBC for mentoring a group of men, and excellent in showing men who God wants them to be and how to get there. His wife, Barbara also has an excellent book called, Disciplines of a Godly Woman. Both very helpful, and if applied, life changing. Remember to prioritize the reading of God's Word and then also to use men and women who write other books to sharpen your mind and deepen your relationship with God.
Sunday Is Coming: The better you prepare the more you will receive and be ready to give...
Title: The Ordinary, Extraordinary Treasured Church
Text: Acts 2:37-47
What do you value? Why?
What is the difference between "C"hurch and "c"hurch?
Why do you think it is so important to God that we value His Church, which is displayed in His church?
How does this church in Acts show us the tasks we should make a priority as a church?
How do you join the Church? Why is it important to join the church?
Why is preaching the Word of God so central to what we do as a church?
Why does God value His Word so much? Psalm 138:2
As God has placed you in our church family, where does He want you to serve? How can you help us to be a healthy church?
I am excited about what is coming, may it be said of us, "THIS WAS THEIR FINEST HOUR"
A fellow servant of the KING
Pastor Rob
